Editing 101

Adding Pages & Blog Posts

There are two ways to add pages and posts. You can add a new page/post entirely, or sometimes its more convenient to copy a premade post/page and simply edit the content and design elements as they are already laid out for you. I Be sure to read the first two ‘how tos’ ‘Always Work From A Backup’ and ‘Working With Templates’ to better understand these timing saving steps.

Working with Pages
Pages are the main pages of your website; not to be confused with a blog post (see below).
  • On the left hand dashboard, go to the Posts section.
  • Click ‘Add New’ on the upper left corner.
  • Click ‘Advanced Layout Editor’ in upper right corner. Always edit in Advanced Layout Builder.
  • ‘Add Title’ of the post
  • proceed to adding layout and media elements to the page.
  • Press the blue ‘Publish’ button when your edits are complete.

Adding Pages to the Navigation Menu

After you’ve created your page you will need to add it to the menu so the public can access the page via your navigation system.

Working with Blog Posts
Blog posts are similar to adding a page to the website, but where a page may be added anywhere (horizontally) throughout the website, blog posts are only added (vertically) beneath your blog/news page. Blog posts add additional meta information for the public, including author, date, and categories.
  • On the left hand dashboard, go to the Posts section.
  • Click ‘Add New’ on the upper left corner.
  • Click ‘Advanced Layout Editor’ in upper right corner. Always edit in Advanced Layout Builder.
  • ‘Add Title’ of the post
  • Add a short description: this is what appears as a teaser sentence in the blog listings/’table of contents’ page.
  • Add a Page Image: this is the primary image that appears as the header in the blog
  • Paste your content into the Blog
  • Add any images within the blog
  • Press Publish on the upper right hand side.
  • Your article will automatically be added to the blog listings and will be accessible to the public.
